Product details

How PSA Nitrogen Generation Works

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) separates nitrogen from compressed air using carbon molecular sieve (CMS) material. Under pressure, CMS preferentially adsorbs oxygen and other trace gases, allowing high-purity nitrogen to pass through to the outlet. When the sieve is saturated it depressurises (swings), releasing the adsorbed gases and regenerating automatically — twin-column designs do this alternately so nitrogen flow is continuous.

The result is on-site nitrogen generation with no moving parts in the separation stage, very low maintenance requirements, and purity adjustable between 95% and 99.999% by setting the cycle time. A compressed air supply from a screw or piston compressor is the only utility required.

Typical Industrial Applications

On-site nitrogen eliminates dependence on cylinder or liquid nitrogen deliveries, reduces total nitrogen cost by 40–70%, and gives manufacturers full control over purity and pressure. Industry Division systems are engineered for 24/7 operation in demanding plant environments.

  1. Food packaging — MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) for extended shelf life
  2. Electronics — soldering, reflow ovens, PCB protection
  3. Chemical & pharmaceutical — inerting, blanketing, purging
  4. Metal fabrication — laser cutting assist gas, heat treatment atmospheres
  5. Tyres & rubber — nitrogen inflation for aircraft, racing and industrial tyres
  6. Oenology — wine tank blanketing, bottling line protection
  7. Fire prevention — oxygen reduction in server rooms, archives, museums
